Last weekend was my first race down in Nathrop Colorado at Darnerland. I had only a few hours of riding on my new Specialized SX before the first race on Saturday but I adapted quickly to it and really enjoyed racing on it. I think it is going to be an awesome season of racing and I am so happy that it is race season again!
Dual Slalom went well and I took 1st. It was a good way to start the season and I was happy with that. However it was SUPER cold even though it was sunny, the fire was about the only thing that kept me alive! It was also really cool to see every one after the long winter.
4X was a fun race. It was much warmer which suited racing much better. In practice I was just having fun jumping and hitting corners. We raced on the old 4X track that was more about your gate start than anything else. The course didn’t permit much passing at all. Jr. X was combined to race with the Pro’s and Semi Pro’s. It was a really good experience and I ended up finishing 8th, which was ok. I need to continue to work on my gate starts for 4x.
All and all it was a great weekend of racing and I’m VERY glad that the season is starting.
