Racing on the east coast was a new experience for me. I had never really raced on such a slick, high-speed course and the terrain was totally different. My dad and I flew in Wednesday night, I put my bike together at my sister’s house just out side of New York City and we left early Thursday mourning to catch practice at the track in Mt. Snow, Vermont. It ended up being fairly stressful having to assemble and disassemble the bikes but every thing seemed to work out all right except the airline broke one of my grips. We were lucky in that it barely rained all weekend and it is the rainy season. The dual slalom track looked at first like it was a dual cross course until NORBA made some last minute changes. It wasn’t the greatest track ever but it was really fun to race on. I didn’t get much practice on the course but I felt confident with the few runs I had. I ended up not qualifying so great because the lack of practice and I noticed just before qualifying that my brake hose was leaking and I didn’t have a front brake. Bummer! I got it fixed up before the race and got in some more practice. I advanced all the way to the small finals where I ended up getting forth. I was stoked! Down Hill was on Sunday and it was all misty in the mourning and the rocks got slicker. I liked the course even though it was probably the scariest course I have ever been on. I had an ok run and ended up 2nd. I was really happy that I got a double podium weekend. I got a few pics; they’re not very good but better than nothing.

This is the start of the dual slalom.
